PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange Lions closed their regular season on a tough note Friday night, falling to the playoff-hungry West Geauga Wolverines, 47–15.
West Geauga wasted no time asserting control, jumping out to a dominant 35–0 lead by halftime behind a balanced offensive attack and opportunistic defense. The Wolverines’ early surge proved too much for Orange to overcome, despite a stronger second half from the Lions.
Orange opened the third quarter with a spark when quarterback Jonah Frey connected with Jordan Easton on a six-yard touchdown pass, trimming the deficit to 35–7. However, the Wolverines quickly answered with another score to maintain their momentum.
The Lions found one final highlight late in the game when Chaz Rosiles electrified the crowd with a 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. Orange converted the two-point attempt as Noah Seaman hit Jake Vallone in the corner of the end zone.
Despite the late surge, the Lions couldn’t close the gap and finished their season with a 3–7 record. West Geauga’s victory, meanwhile, kept their playoff hopes alive as they head into postseason play.
