PAINESVILLE, OH- The Orange girls basketball team held its composure down the stretch Saturday afternoon, earning a hard-fought 31–27 victory over Painesville Harvey.
Defense set the tone early as the Lions jumped out to a 4–1 lead after the first quarter, keeping the Raiders off balance and limiting scoring opportunities. Orange carried that momentum into the second quarter, where Bree Turner sparked the offense. Turner scored nine of her game-high 14 points in the first half, helping the Lions maintain a 15–12 advantage at the break.
The third quarter proved to be a tense back-and-forth battle. With the lead shrinking, Turner delivered a momentum-changing moment by knocking down a key three-pointer, allowing Orange to cling to a narrow 20–19 lead heading into the final quarter.
In the fourth, execution at the free-throw line made the difference. The Lions calmly converted five of eight foul shots, fending off multiple late Harvey pushes and sealing the win.
With strong defense, timely shooting, and clutch free throws, Orange showed poise and resilience, turning a close contest into a statement victory and sending the Lions home with confidence after a gritty team effort.
