PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange Lions basketball team dropped a 78–54 decision to Mayfield on Friday night as a strong second-quarter run by the Wildcats proved to be the difference.
Orange kept things close early, trailing just 20–16 at the end of the first quarter. However, Mayfield began to create separation in the second quarter, putting together a decisive 10–0 run that swung the momentum and built a comfortable halftime lead.
The Lions continued to compete in the second half but were unable to close the gap as the Wildcats maintained control on both ends of the floor.
Aaron Lewis paced Orange with 13 points in the loss. With the defeat, the Lions fall to 2–2 on the season and will look to bounce back in their next outing.
