CHAGRIN FALLS, OH- The Orange Lions showed grit and resilience on Sunday afternoon, scoring two late goals in the third period to erase a 3–1 deficit and skate to a 3–3 tie against NDCL.
Orange jumped out to an early lead just over three minutes into the game when Max Golubitsky buried the opening goal. But NDCL answered quickly and forcefully, striking for three goals in the first period—including a dramatic tally by Colin Krajnak as time expired—to take a 3–1 advantage into the first intermission.
The score held through a tight second period before the Lions began their comeback push in the third. Four and a half minutes into the final frame, Noah Rice cut the deficit to 3–2, giving Orange the spark it needed. The Lions generated several dangerous chances in the closing minutes and earned multiple power-play opportunities, but NDCL’s penalty kill held firm.
With just 59 seconds remaining, however, Branaghan Blasier delivered the clutch equalizer, capping the Lions’ determined rally.
Goaltender Caleb Rivchun kept Orange within striking distance all night, finishing with 35 saves—including an impressive 16-save first period under heavy pressure.
With the tie, the Lions move to 0-1-1 on the season. They return to action Friday night when they host Canfield at 8:50 PM at the Pond.
