Campbell and Navadeh go 1-2; Boys finish strong as runner-up
GENEVA, OH- The Orange Lions girls cross country team dominated the Chagrin Valley Conference (CVC) Lake Division Championship on Saturday, seizing the team title with a commanding performance over rivals Madison and Geneva.
Leading the charge was senior standout Marina Campbell, who claimed the individual title with an impressive time of 20:30.96. Not far behind was sophomore Zahra Navadeh, who secured second place in 21:56.12, giving Orange a powerful one-two punch at the front of the pack.
Rounding out the scoring five for the girls were Emily Moderick (23:21.05), Grace Breininger (23:23.28), and Panka Karman (24:02.37), all finishing strong and close together to solidify the Lions’ top standing. Noomi Levine (24:35.40) and Elizabeth Moody (26:50.72) added depth and support, ensuring a dominant team effort.
Meanwhile, the Orange boys team turned in an impressive showing of their own, finishing second overall in the Lake Division, just behind West Geauga.
Senior Ishan Bhatt led the way with a time of 17:52.28, placing him among the top finishers. He was followed by Griffin Berlin (18:20.58), Landon Bell (18:35.04), Calvin Schroer (18:41.93), and Chase Lepene (18:57.22), all breaking the 19-minute mark to lock in a solid team score. Sam Melvey (19:15.79) and Spencer Wolinetz (19:18.06) also contributed strong finishes.
With the girls hoisting the championship trophy and the boys earning runner-up honors, Orange cross country made a major statement in the CVC — showing that the Lions are a force to be reckoned with this fall.
