GATES MILL, OH- The Orange Lions girls basketball team came up short on the road Wednesday night, falling to Hawken 43–22.
Hawken set the tone early, jumping out to an 18–3 lead in the first quarter as the Hawks’ pressure and length created problems for the Lions. Orange settled in during the second quarter and generated several good scoring opportunities, but Hawken’s size inside made finishing difficult. The Hawks carried a 26–11 advantage into halftime.
Orange was led offensively by Isla Osterman, who finished with 13 points, including three three-pointers. Despite the Lions’ effort, Hawken continued to control the game after the break, extending its lead to 39–16 by the end of the third quarter before closing out the win.
The Lions will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host Lutheran West in a make-up game from last Wednesday. Tipoff is set for 12 p.m. at Orange High School.
