TALLMADGE, OH- The Orange High School gymnastics team delivered a strong and steady performance Saturday, earning a third-place team finish at the Dawn’s Happy Feet Invitational.
Competing in Olympic order after beginning on the balance beam, the Lions showcased resilience and growth throughout the meet. Orange opened on beam, moved to floor exercise, then rotated to vault before closing the afternoon on bars.
Aya Sayah led the way for the Lions with a consistent all-around performance. She scored a 7.95 on beam to start the day and followed with an impressive 8.8 on floor exercise — one of the team’s top scores of the meet. Sayah continued her steady showing with a 7.9 on vault and a 7.4 on bars.
Liz Moody turned in a strong beam routine as well, posting an 8.1 to anchor the opening rotation. She added a 7.45 on floor, a 7.4 on vault, and a 6.3 on bars to contribute valuable points to the team total.
Miriam Claypool provided consistency across all four events, recording a 7.15 on beam, 6.7 on floor exercise, 7.0 on vault, and 6.6 on bars.
Dylan Oakley rounded out the Lions’ scoring with a 6.05 on beam, 7.1 on floor, 7.4 on vault, and 6.2 on bars, helping Orange maintain momentum throughout the meet.
Starting on beam can often be a challenging way to open a competition, but the Lions handled the pressure well and built confidence as the day progressed. Their strong floor routines helped spark energy before a solid showing on vault, and they closed the meet determinedly on bars.
With a third-place finish against tough competition, Orange continues to show progress and poise as the season moves forward.
