Orange Girls Tennis Captures OTCA State Championship with Dominant Win Over Columbus Academy

MASON, OH- The Orange High School girls tennis team etched its name into the history books on Saturday, capturing the Ohio Tennis Coaches' Association (OTCA) State Championship with a commanding 3-0 victory over Columbus Academy in the finals.
The Lions showed dominance from the start, with Genevieve Hayden setting the tone by defeating Gabrielle Stewart in decisive fashion, 6-1, 6-0, in first singles. In third singles, Ivy Berlin delivered an equally impressive win at third singles, cruising past Iris Sun, 6-1, 6-0.
Clinching the title for Orange was the first doubles team of Adele Tokmazeysky and Raina Patel, who played with poise and power in a 6-2, 6-3 win over Sophie Wu and Lara Wood.
Two matches went unfinished as the team clinched the overall victory. In second singles, Melanie Statsevych was rallying back against Ella Tsao after dropping the first set, trailing 1-6, 5-4 when the match was called. In second doubles, Lily Guiler and Jaya Dixit were leading Ela Koksal and Zephyr Harrison, 7-5, 2-1, before play was suspended.
The road to the championship was not without challenge. In the state semifinals, the Lions defeated Maumee Valley Country Day by a score of 3-1. Key wins came from Hayden (6-0, 6-0 over Shannon), Patel (6-0, 6-0 over J. Ridi), and the doubles duo of Tokmazeysky and Guiler, who defeated L. Ridi and Avram, 6-2, 6-4. The lone loss came in second doubles, where Roach and Zafar of Maumee Valley edged out Zoey Ro and Jaya Dixit, 6-3, 6-4. The second singles match featuring Statsevych was called unfinished, with the Lion leading 7-5.
With depth, resilience, and elite-level play across the lineup, the Orange girls tennis team capped off a stellar season with a state title, cementing their place as one of Ohio's top tennis programs.
