Orange Boys Swim Past Shaker Heights, Girls Fall in Friday Night Meet

PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange swim teams were back in the pool Friday night at Orange High School, hosting Shaker Heights in a competitive dual meet that saw strong performances across the board. The boys team came away with a decisive 112–71 victory, while the girls team dropped a 115–67 decision to the Raiders.
On the girls side, Orange opened the night in style as the 200-yard medley relay team of Charlotte Bolton, Liz Campbell, Lucy Jais, and Aanya Chepyala touched first with a winning time of 2:03.93. Noomi Levine captured first place in the 200-yard freestyle (2:16.78), while Aanya Chepyala added a win in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 27.23.
Distance events also proved to be a strength for the Lions, as Liz Campbell won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:51.66. The girls 200-yard freestyle relay team of Chepyala, Bolton, Jais, and Campbell finished first in 1:47.47, and Charlotte Bolton followed that up with a victory in the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.86). Orange closed out the meet with another relay win as the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Chepyala, Campbell, Jais, and Bolton posted a winning time of 3:57.15.
The boys team delivered an impressive performance from start to finish. The 200-yard medley relay team of Abhay Maranganti, Oscar Seibel, Levi Vanderhart, and Liam Steele set the tone early by winning with a time of 1:57.63. Sam Amato was a standout, taking first in both the 200-yard freestyle (1:48.91) and the 100-yard freestyle (49.10).
Gianni Cakulev earned a win in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:13.25 and later added a victory in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.15). Galvin Dovgan claimed first place in the 50-yard freestyle (22.42) and the 100-yard butterfly (54.10), while Suchin Wyckoff won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:28.97.
Relay success continued for the Lions as the 200-yard freestyle relay team of Amato, Cakulev, Michael Shuster, and Dovgan won in 1:33.36. Oscar Seibel took first in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.64, and the boys capped the night with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as Dovgan, Shuster, Cakulev, and Amato finished in 3:27.80.
The Lions won’t have much time to rest, as both teams return to action today at 1 p.m., when Orange hosts Kenston.
