Orange Boys Cross Country Punch Ticket to State, Campbell Qualifies for Girls!

BOARDMAN, OH- The Orange cross country program is state-bound once again. The boys team secured a trip to the OHSAA State Championships after placing 7th overall at the Regional Meet held Saturday at Boardman High School. The Lions narrowly edged Berkshire to capture the final qualifying spot for state.
Leading the way for Orange was Griffin Berlin, who clocked a 17:15.93 to finish 37th overall. Just seconds behind, Ishan Bhatt crossed the line in 39th with a time of 17:18.88. Landon Bell and Calvin Schroer provided key depth, finishing 70th (18:02.86) and 78th (18:08.14) respectively, while Sam Melvey (96th, 18:31.38) and Spencer Wolinetz (18:32.98) rounded out the scoring for the Lions.
Woodridge took home the regional title, followed by Chagrin Falls, Keystone, Waynedale, Ashtabula Edgewood, Holy Name, and Orange.
Earlier in the day, the Orange girls team placed 15th overall, but junior Marina Campbell delivered a standout performance, earning an individual state berth with her 8th-place finish in 19:25.02.
Also competing for the Lions were Zahra Navadeh (72nd, 21:53.22), Emily Moderick (107th, 22:53.76), Panka Karman (114th, 23:05.48), Noomi Levine (23:24.02), and Elizabeth Moody (25:46.56).
Campbell and the boys team will now prepare to represent Orange at the OHSAA State Championships next Saturday at Fortress Obetz & Memorial Park in Obetz, Ohio. Good Luck at State next week!
