Norton Earns MVP as Lions Rally Past Central Catholic at MLK Tournament

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, OH- The Orange Lions girls basketball team completed a strong comeback Sunday, defeating Cleveland Central Catholic at the Richmond Heights MLK Basketball Tournament.
Cleveland Central Catholic jumped out to an early lead, taking an 11–6 advantage after the first quarter and maintaining control into halftime with a 25–17 lead. The Lions responded after the break, showing resilience and determination on both ends of the floor.
Orange cut into the deficit during the third quarter, trimming the Ironmen’s lead to 38–34 heading into the final period. Courtney Norton sparked the rally, scoring six of her team-high 17 points in the quarter to keep the Lions within striking distance.
The fourth quarter belonged to Orange, as the Lions outscored Central Catholic 17–7 to secure the victory. Norton’s leadership and scoring pace guided the comeback, while Jada Gage delivered a key three-pointer and finished with 10 points in the win. The Lions sealed the game at the free-throw line, converting 4-of-5 attempts down the stretch.
For her standout performance, Norton was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, capping a memorable day for the Lions at the MLK Tournament.
