PEPPER PIKE, OH- The echoes of cheers and the rhythm of racing water filled the Orange High School natatorium Saturday as Pepper Pike Orange delivered a dominant performance against Kenston, sweeping both the girls and boys competitions with speed, depth, and precision.
Orange struck first in the relays. The girls’ 200-yard medley relay team of Charlotte Bolton, Liz Campbell, Lucy Jais, and Aanya Chepyala opened the meet with a win in 2:04.91, setting an early tone. The boys answered immediately as Gianni Cakulev, Oscar Seibel, Galvin Dovgan, and Sam Amato touched first in the 200 medley relay in 1:47.90, drawing loud applause from the home crowd.
Individually, Orange swimmers continued to build momentum. Noomi Levine captured the girls’ 200 freestyle in 2:21.24, while Galvin Dovgan dominated the boys’ 200 freestyle with a winning time of 1:55.90. In the 200 IM, Lucy Jais posted a strong victory for the Lions in 2:32.51, and Suchin Wyckoff claimed the boys’ IM in 2:21.06.
Sprint events energized the deck. Aanya Chepyala won the girls’ 50 freestyle in 27.73, edging a close field, while Sam Amato blazed to first in the boys’ 50 freestyle with a fast 23.24. Amato later doubled up in the 100 freestyle, winning in 50.59, showcasing Orange’s speed advantage.
Orange also made a splash on the diving board, where Violet Tomino secured first place in girls’ 1-meter diving with a score of 154.65. In butterfly events, Giuliana Walters edged out the field in the girls’ 100 fly with 1:09.59, while Armaan Chepyala took the boys’ butterfly in 1:08.89.
Endurance events further separated the Lions from Kenston. Gianni Cakulev powered through the boys’ 500 freestyle to win in 5:14.49, and Orange’s relay depth proved decisive late. The girls’ 200 freestyle relay team of Bolton, Chepyala, Jais, and Campbell won in 1:49.26, while the boys’ quartet of Dovgan, Michael Shuster, Liam Steele, and Amato claimed the same event in 1:35.85.
The meet closed with emphatic relay victories. Orange’s girls captured the 400 freestyle relay in 4:17.26, and the boys sealed the day with a 3:38.30 win in the final event.
When the last race ended and scores were tallied, the results reflected Orange’s commanding performance: 94–62 on the girls’ side and 113–48 for the boys. With strong winning times across every stroke and distance, the Lions turned a January dual meet into a clear statement of speed, teamwork, and confidence heading deeper into the season.
