PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange girls lacrosse team showed resilience and determination Thursday night, battling back from an early deficit to defeat Kent Roosevelt 10-8.
The Lions found themselves in a tough spot early, trailing 4-1 in the second quarter. However, Orange responded with an impressive surge, rattling off five consecutive goals to seize a 6-4 lead heading into halftime.
Kent Roosevelt refused to go away quietly, answering back to tie the game at 6 early in the third quarter. From there, the contest remained tightly contested until the Lions elevated their play in the final period. Orange pulled away in the fourth quarter, controlling the pace and capitalizing on key opportunities to secure the victory.
Natalie Abruzzo led the offensive charge with four goals, while Courtney Norton recorded a hat trick with three goals. Callyn Schreibman, Josephine Ponsky, and Frances Doyle each contributed a goal to round out the scoring effort.
With the win, the Lions build momentum as they prepare for their next matchup. Orange will return to action Saturday morning when they travel to Canfield for an 11:00 AM start.
