PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange Lions nearly completed a dramatic comeback Wednesday night, but the rally came up just short in a 62–58 loss to the Harvey Raiders.
Orange struggled offensively in the first half and went into the locker room trailing 38–20. The Lions showed renewed energy coming out of halftime, outscoring the Raiders 21–17 in the third quarter to begin chipping away at the deficit.
Jaylhin Sheppard helped ignite the comeback, scoring seven of his 12 points in the third quarter. Alex McCulloch also found his rhythm, pouring in eight of his game-high 27 points during the period to keep Orange within striking distance.
The Lions continued to battle in the fourth quarter behind McCulloch and Wyatt Federer. Federer knocked down two key three-pointers, while Dillon Mathur hit a clutch three in the final seconds to cut Harvey’s lead to 60–58.
However, Armani Hall of Harvey sealed the win at the free-throw line, knocking down two shots to put the game away for the Raiders.
Despite the loss, Orange showed resilience and fight after halftime. The Lions will look to build on that momentum when they return to action Friday night on the road at Shaw High School.
