Lions Fall to Mayfield Despite Late Effort

PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange Lions softball team faced a tough challenge, falling to Mayfield 14-2 in a game defined by the Wildcats’ early offensive surge.
Mayfield wasted no time taking control, scoring eight runs in the first inning to put Orange in an early hole. The Wildcats continued to capitalize in the third inning, adding six more runs to extend their lead.
The Lions continued to battle and showed resilience late in the game. Orange got on the board in the fourth inning and added another run in the fifth to round out its scoring.
Sarah Zack and Kayla Glazer each recorded a hit to lead the Lions offensively. In the circle, Emma Saks recorded four strikeouts while working to keep Orange competitive.
The Lions will look to regroup as they return home to host Lutheran West in their next matchup.
