Lions Earn Fifth at Challenge Gymnastics Tournament in Downtown Cleveland

CLEVELAND, OH- The Orange girls gymnastics team delivered a strong all-around performance Friday night at The Challenge Gymnastics Tournament, held at the Cleveland Public Auditorium in downtown Cleveland. Competing against 11 schools, the Lions finished in an impressive fifth place overall, highlighted by several standout individual efforts.
Leading the way for Orange was Aya Sayah, who placed fifth overall in the all-around competition. Sayah was especially sharp on the vault, posting an 8.4 to earn fourth place overall. She also turned in consistent routines across the remaining events, scoring a 7.7 on bars, an 8.0 on beam, and an 8.75 on floor exercise.
Sophie Heiser delivered one of the top performances of the night on the floor, earning a 9.0 that placed her second overall in the event. Heiser also recorded scores of 7.8 on vault, 7.3 on bars, and 7.9 on beam to round out a strong showing.
Natalie Abruzzo contributed with scores of 7.5 on vault, 6.3 on bars, 6.95 on beam, and 7.65 on floor exercise. Dylan Oakley added solid routines as well, finishing with a 7.1 on vault, 6.0 on bars, 6.55 on beam, and 7.3 on floor.
Liz Moody posted consistent numbers across all four events, including a 7.6 on vault, 6.8 on bars, 7.3 on beam, and a 7.7 on floor exercise. Miriam Claypool rounded out the Lions’ scoring with a 7.7 on vault, 6.1 on bars, 6.4 on beam, and a 7.3 on floor.
With balanced performances across the lineup and top-tier individual finishes, the Lions proved they can compete with the best as they continue their season.
