Late Threes Lift Orange Past Maple Heights in Gritty 48–45 Win

PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange Lions earned a hard-fought victory Tuesday night, holding off Maple Heights for a 48–45 win in a tightly contested matchup.
Orange set the tone early behind Aaron Lewis, who jump-started the offense by scoring 11 of his team-high 13 points in the first quarter. Lewis’ early surge helped the Lions build an 11–7 lead after one period of play.
In the second quarter, Jonah Marderstein took over offensively, scoring seven of his 11 points to keep Orange in front. Despite steady pressure from the Mustangs, the Lions maintained control heading into halftime with a 21–17 advantage.
Maple Heights responded in the third quarter with a strong run, trimming the Orange lead to just one point at 35–34 entering the final eight minutes. The game remained tense throughout the fourth quarter as both teams traded baskets.
Orange delivered in the closing moments, getting two key three-pointers and a crucial free throw from Dillon Mathur to seal the win. Mathur finished with 10 points, while Wyatt Federer added eight points, including two shots from beyond the arc.
With balanced scoring and timely shooting down the stretch, the Lions showed composure when it mattered most to secure the three-point victory.
