Late Rally Falls Short as Orange Lions Drop 5–4 Decision to CVCA

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OH- The Orange Lions came up just short on the scoreboard, falling 5–4 to CVCA in a hard-fought contest highlighted by momentum swings and a dramatic finish.
The Lions trailed 2–1 after the opening period, with their lone goal coming midway through the frame. Noah Rice found the back of the net to tie the game at 1–1, but CVCA answered later in the period to regain the lead.
CVCA extended its advantage midway through the second period, making it 3–1 and putting the Lions in need of a spark. That spark came in the final seven minutes of the period, as Orange erupted for three goals in quick succession. Rice scored twice more to complete his hat trick, while Russell Tye added a goal of his own. The surge sent the Lions into the third period with a 4–3 lead.
In the final frame, CVCA responded with two goals to swing the momentum back in their favor. The game-winning goal came with just 3:04 remaining, sealing the 5–4 outcome despite the Lions’ push to equalize late.
In net, Caleb Rivchun delivered a strong performance for Orange, turning aside 30 shots and keeping the Lions within reach throughout the game.
Despite the loss, the Lions showed resilience and offensive firepower, battling until the final minutes against a determined CVCA squad.
