PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange Lions battled toe-to-toe with Hawken on Tuesday night, but a late push by the Hawks proved to be the difference in a 36–25 defeat for Orange.
The game was tightly contested from the opening tip, with both teams trading baskets and defensive stops throughout the first half. By halftime, neither side had gained an advantage, as the Lions and Hawks went into the break deadlocked at 16–16.
Momentum began to shift in the third quarter. Hawken put together a decisive 9–0 run late in the period, creating separation and forcing Orange to play from behind the rest of the way. Despite continued effort from the Lions, Hawken maintained control down the stretch to secure the win.
Orange was led offensively by Isla Osterman, who finished with 14 points to pace the Lions.
The Orange Lions will look to bounce back quickly, returning to action on Friday night when they host Perry. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
