Genevieve Hayden Captures State Tennis Title in Thrilling Championship Run

MASON, OH- Genevieve Hayden, a sophomore tennis standout, claimed the state title in girls singles today with a hard-fought victory over Sophia Thompson of Cincinnati Indian Hill. In a match filled with intensity and momentum swings, Hayden emerged victorious in three sets: 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
Hayden's championship day began with a semifinal matchup against Abigail Lynch of Hawken. Displaying poise and consistency from the baseline, she secured a straight-sets win, 6-4, 6-3, to advance to the final.
In the title match, Hayden took the first set 6-4 before Thompson battled back to take the second 7-5. Undeterred, Hayden dug deep in the deciding set, breaking Thompson’s serve early and holding her lead to finish the set 6-2 and clinch the championship.
With today’s victory, Genevieve Hayden not only earns the state crown but also establishes herself as one of the top young talents in the state.
