Early Hawken Surge Too Much for Orange in 71–45 Loss

PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange Lions boys basketball team couldn’t recover from a fast start by Hawken, falling 71–45 on the road.
Hawken set the tone early, outscoring the Lions 23–16 in the opening quarter. Senior Peter Daberko helped Orange stay within striking distance early, scoring six of his 10 points in the first quarter to keep the Lions close.
The game shifted decisively in the second quarter as Hawken’s defense clamped down, holding Orange to just two points in the frame. Hawken used an 18–2 run to build a commanding 41–18 advantage by halftime.
Despite the deficit, the Lions continued to compete in the second half. Wyatt Federer led Orange with 14 points, knocking down four three-pointers, while Jaylhin Sheppard added 12 points in the loss.
Orange will look to regroup and bounce back as they continue through the heart of their schedule.
