Brady Girls Swim Team Races to Second Place at Orange Invitational

PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Brady Lions girls swim team delivered an outstanding performance at the Orange Invitational on Saturday at Orange High School, finishing second overall—falling only to Mentor Middle School while finishing ahead of Solon, Mayfield, and Shaker Heights. The Lions showed impressive depth and teamwork throughout the meet, highlighted by multiple event victories and top finishes.
Iris Winkelaar led the charge for the Lions with a dominant day in the pool, winning both the 200-yard freestyle (2:22.02) and the 50-yard backstroke (33.66). Haley Neuendorf added key points in the 200 freestyle, finishing third with a time of 2:29.07, while Navah Levine placed eighth in 2:50.37.
In the 100-yard IM, Katherine Azok captured first place with a winning time of 1:10.37, while Ryla Marshall earned eighth in 1:27.49. Azok also took home another individual win in the 50-yard breaststroke, touching the wall first in 35.19, with Indra Iyer finishing seventh in 43.25.
The Lions’ sprinters were equally strong. In the 50-yard freestyle, Eleanor Leonard took third (31.23), Hannah Schwarz finished fourth (31.88), and Adriana Khater placed eighth (35.85). In the 50-yard butterfly, Neuendorf earned third (33.80) and Charlotte Garten finished eighth (36.31).
In the 100-yard freestyle, Schwarz claimed second place with a time of 1:11.17, followed closely by Leonard (fifth, 1:11.86) and Marshall (sixth, 1:11.91). Zain Abu Rmaileh also added valuable points for Brady, finishing fourth in the 400-yard freestyle (6:27.40).
The Lions excelled in the relays as well. In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Neuendorf, Schwarz, Winkelaar, and Azok captured first place with a time of 2:00.40. The team of Garten, Marshall, Levine, and Leonard earned fourth with a time of 2:12.12.
Brady capped off the meet with two strong finishes in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Neuendorf, Schwarz, Winkelaar, and Azok finished second (4:25.53), while Garten, Marshall, Levine, and Leonard took third (4:55.25).
With four individual victories, several top-three finishes, and strong showings in all relays, the Brady girls demonstrated both skill and depth. Their second-place finish at the Orange Invitational marked a standout performance and a promising sign for the rest of their season.
