PEPPER PIKE, OH- The Orange girls basketball team battled from start to finish but came up short in a 43-34 loss to rival Beachwood on Tuesday night.
Beachwood set the tone early, jumping out to a 10-6 lead after the first quarter and extending the advantage to 22-13 by halftime. Dora Russo helped keep the Lions within reach in the opening half, scoring 4 of her 6 points as Orange worked to counter the Bison’s early momentum.
The Lions continued to fight in the second half, staying within striking distance throughout the third quarter. Orange trailed 30-20 heading into the final period and refused to go away. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Lions cut the deficit to just six points behind a strong push from Isla Osterman, who scored 8 of her team-high 13 points in the quarter.
Despite the late surge, Beachwood was able to close out the game and secure the rivalry win.
Orange will look to bounce back on Wednesday when the Lions return home to host Harvey for their annual Senior Night.
